Jonathan Slaghuis
Jonathan is committed to architecture that preserves history and culture.
His master’s thesis was entitled ‘Evocations of a Ghost Shoreline: Metamorphic Architecture in Woodstock’. In his proposal, he explored Cape Town’s forgotten shoreline, imagining how architectural interventions can be used to resurrect lost memory.
In 2021, Jonathan won the CPDI Africa East Africa Award for his design of a Kenyan Ngai-Masaai Cultural Centre that embodies the culture’s traditions and beliefs.
As a candidate architect, he focuses on a wide range of projects, collaborating and sharing his passion for architectural design. He takes a broad interest in topical issues such as smart cities and questions around sustainability.
